Seasoned

Welcome to Well Seasoned. Why, you ask, is my website called Well Seasoned? I’m not sure my crazy thought process will make any sense at all, but here it is, for worse or better.

I was meditating over my daily Bible reading and a verse (that was not part of my reading) kept popping into my head. To everything there is a season…no, not the song…definitely the verse. I couldn’t remember the reference, (which is typical for me, I can remember verses but I can almost never remember the reference) terrible, I know. So, I did what any person would do, I typed the verse into Google and let it tell me the reference. Well, it brought up the reference which is Ecclesiastes 3:1. I read the first verse, then continued reading through verse eight.

-Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (KJV)

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

I pondered these verses for a few moments… While I didn’t know why God reminded me of those verses I was sure he would make it clear to me when I needed to know why.

My to do list was not getting any shorter. I pushed my thoughts aside and tried to focus on my next task of the day, which was menu planning. I was looking up recipes for fall meals, because I like to categorize by season. I don’t know if anyone else does things that way, it just makes sense to me. I was thinking to myself, wouldn’t it be great if there was a site that just grouped things together by season? Maybe I could create one? No, that is crazy! Is it crazy? What would I call it? Seasons? Well Seasoned? Well Seasoned…Well Seasoned! That is perfect! Wait, it’s probably already taken… So what did I do? You guessed it! I Googled it! Google is my smartest friend, hahaha. I typed in Wellseasoned.com, and I was shocked, the only thing that popped up was the definition, which is:

adjective (well seasoned when postpositive) (of food) flavoured pleasantly or generously with herbs, salt, pepper, or spices. (of timber) prepared and dried skilfully or thoroughly. (of a person) matured or experienced. (dictionary.com. )

Then, after reading the definition, I thought, I’m matured and experienced; I love well seasoned food; I want to create a website built around seasons; then there was that verse…To everything there is a season, a time and purpose under the heaven… and here we are. I am sure none of you are as scattered as I am. I have found that being scattered can be frustrating, but it has also taken me on some great adventures and I can’t wait to see where this one goes!
